Writing in a journal is an excellent habit to have or to create if you do not currently have a journal. I like to keep a bullet journal. There are many different journal writing techniques, but If you do not now have a journal writing practice, here is a simple one that you can quickly implement.
You’ll be writing down one thing in each category; one thing you’ll let go of, one thing you’re grateful for, and one thing you’ll focus on. By doing this every day, you’re conditioning your mind to focus on what you have rather than what you lack. This regular habit allows you to have the right mindset before going to work or doing the rest of your planned activities for the day.
This only takes up a few minutes of your time, yet it is a useful habit focusing on your mental strength. Forming this habit lets you focus less on your regrets, and more on what you’re grateful for and your goals in life. By actively listing out what you’re thankful for, this counters any negativity and regret you may be holding on to.
5. Take a cold shower (or have a cup of coffee)
Taking a cold shower is just an idea, and I do not implement this one into my morning routine, but I’ve read about it in many other morning routine lists, so I include it just as an idea. Taking a cold shower might be an unusual part of this list. However, you don’t need to rely on coffee when cold showers are enough to wake you up to start your day with productivity and energy. Personally, I opt for the coffee, but you can make your own choice of one or both.
Cold showers make a great alternative instead of relying on caffeine to wake you up. You’ll find that after a cold shower, you feel awake and energized enough to start your day. Compared to hot or warm showers, cold showers wake you up immediately.
6. Meditation, Prayer, and Reading
Choose one or all three, whatever you most enjoy or receive the most benefit from. I like to include about 10 minutes of each into my morning routine for a total of 30 minutes. I do a short meditation to help me to get rid of feelings of anxiety and focus on my breathing. Meditation helps me focus on the present and get into the right mindset for the day.
As a morning routine, meditation starts your day in the right perspective, and you’ll feel much lighter compared to before the meditation.

Creative doesn’t have to mean art. When you say creative, it could be thinking of ideas to go beyond your sales quota this week, or it could be creating that presentation of work.
By doing something creative, I mean, thinking of ideas and thoughts. Whether you’re working on a corporate 9-5 job, or your career is on the creatives industry, after doing all of those things above, do something creative.
If you keep a journal, this is a good place for you to write down your thoughts and ideas. You will then be able to refer back to them throughout your day or at a later date.
Before going to work and doing your routine tasks, creativity ensures that you feel fulfilled and productive. It sets your mind in motion. When your brain gets fueled with ideas, then you have the motivation you need for the rest of your day.
